Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Gupta eyes cloud seeding to clear Delhi air

Gupta credited the “responsible behaviour” of Delhiites for keeping pollution “under control” during Diwali, adding that citizens respected the Supreme Court's directive by opting for green crackers.

“This Diwali, Delhi saw a positive transformation. The people celebrated responsibly, reflecting faith in a government that respects Sanatan traditions while addressing modern-day needs,” she said, while also taking a swipe at the previous regime for “failing to act on pollution” and imposing a“*blanket ban” on crackers.

To combat dust pollution, Gupta said the government had deployed 1,000 water sprinklers, 140 anti-smog guns, and 70 mechanical road sweepers across the city, besides intensifying inspections at construction sites.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s overall AQI stood at 351 as of 4 pm, with several areas slipping into the ‘severe’ range. Bawana recorded 432, Ashok Vihar and Wazirpur both at 408, and Jahangirpuri at 405 — all marked in the ‘red zone’.
