Today, one gauges their success with respect to the job they have, making one place of work at the center of their lives. The growing emphasis on climbing the career ladder and the societal expectations attached with respect to it has led people to view it as the core of their identity. "You should study well and find a good job for yourself." This happens to be a mantra that each person tends to hear from the time they are young. Imbibing this thought from the time they are young, it becomes deeply ingrained in their minds. It is seen as an ultimate measure that they see it as the pinnacle of success. Tying one's identity solely to their career has been extremely normalized in society to an extent that one's visiting card—a small tangible object that briefs one's role and position—gets transformed into a representation of their entire identity. Their role and company become a definition to them, thus overlooking other important factors such as their humanistic qualities.
