Basking in the glorious 105-year-old history of its own, Dr Satish Chander Dhawan Government College Ludhiana-a premier temple of learning spreading light of know how in various fields for more than a century is still the deep a sea so far as ocean of quality higher education and all-round knowledge in all the four directions of globe is concerned.
No denying the fact that this college brimming with excellence be it either before or after the freedom of nation has aptly been named after a celebrated space scientist of India Dr. Satish Chander Dhawan groomed up in the premises of this institution in the pre-independence era of India rose to the pinnacle of glory guiding the destiny of space science not only in India but in the world too, donning the mantle of Indian Space Research Organisation as its President for the record serving longest term of 12 years to symbolise the same.
William Shakespeare- a celebrated English playwright in his popular comedy "As You Like It" compared this world with a stage and we human beings to mere actors and actresses entering the stage then exiting it after playing the role/ roles remarking,
"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players, They have their exits and entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts,..." In light of this fascinating an observation, a vast galaxy of the alumni of this fountain of intellect and expertise did shine in different walks of life leaving their marvellous footprints on the sands of time playing their multihued roles ultimately to be the silver linings for this grand society.
Kudos to Principal U.Kramet who did succeed in making the first day of March, 1945 a memorable, blissful and philosophical for this learning magnet place when he could impress and attract world renowned a guide and philosopher in Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan to grace and address the Silver Jubilee Special Convocation of the college. In this address, his evergreen and universal message of humanity at large still haunts us and quite relevant even today after eight decades to quote: "The soul of man is neither English, nor Indian, Nor Chinese, nor Japanese, and neither Hindu nor Muslim.
