PREPARATIONS are being put in place for this year’s Golowan Festival in Penzance which will celebrate the 35th year of its revival.

The theme this year is ‘On the Crest of a Wave’ which honours the power of the Cornish coast and seas.
Mazey Day will bring the nautical parade through the town on a huge blue wave, and the streets of Penzance will revel in a magical display of maritime mayhem.
The Quay Fair will remain in its usual location on Battery Road in front of the Jubilee Pool, while the Golowan Marquee is moving to the Wharfside Maritime Car Park by the harbour.
The festival will feature two new events this year, with the new Mazey Weekend area in Penlee Park. There will be entertainment and activities, plus the new Tree Lounge space for young people, offering free food for 11-17-year-olds, from 1pm to 6pm.
