Snaith and De Kock chasing six wins in this year's Durban July

- Jack Milner

Some stats ahead of 2025

Just five days to go before the running of this year's Hollywoodbets Durban July and it might be some fun just to look at a few statistics building up to the R5-million race over 2200m at HWB Greyville on Saturday.

Justin Snaith, who will be looking for his sixth win, goes into this race with a strong favourite in Eight On Eighteen. The son of sire Lancaster Bomber, a tragic loss to South African racing when he died so early in his stud career, is being traded between 14-10 and 16-10 depending on which bookmaker one looks at but remarkably, with early comments that the colt would not race in the Durban, he was available at 40-1 in ante-post betting.

Anybody who grabbed those odds will be walking around with broad smiles on their faces.
