Chatting about bots and AI

A week ago, I switched on my computer to polish up my column when a colourful blob appeared unbidden on my Word document. I spent an hour trying to make it go away.

Turns out this blob is an embedded artificial intelligence chatbot called Copilot, which "combines the power of large language models with your data," says Microsoft. It's going to make my life brilliant, they say, because it will "unleash creativity, unlock productivity and uplevel skills". It's also not removable.

Yes, the robots had arrived uninvited.
