Capitec lifts interim dividend as profit climbs

JSE-listed Capitec reported a 26% jump in headline earnings to just over R8 billion for the six months ended 31 August, it announced on Sens yesterday.

Basic headline earnings per share (Heps) rose to 6 962 cents, from 5 544 cents a year earlier.

The Stellenbosch-based bank declared an interim dividend of 2 620 cents per ordinary share, up 26% from the prior period.

The group’s share price rose 1.86% early on Tuesday morning, trading at R3 538.47.
