Calls for unity as National Dialogue begins under scrutiny

The South African Council of Churches (SACC) have appealed to the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) to unite all South Africans behind the National Dialogue.

This comes as a number of political parties have distanced themselves from participating in the first national convention, which begins today.

Several legacy foundations, including the Thabo Mbeki Foundation and the Chief Albert Luthuli Foundation, have also pulled out of the organising committee due to concerns over lack of transparency in funding the National Dialogue and alleged poor planning.
