Michael Georgiou, former chief executive of Accelerate Property Fund which co-owns Fourways Mall, has left the board of the fund.
He had been a director of the company since 1 January, 2013, and was CEO when it listed in December of that year. It acquired a portfolio of properties from various entities owned by his father, Nic Georgiou, as well as Orthotouch, a controversial scheme to rescue the collapsed Highveld Syndication companies.
Georgiou's exit follows more than 97% shareholders voting against his reappointment to the board.
He, alongside fellow non-executive director Kolosa Madikizela, retired at the AGM on last Wednesday.
