Style stakes are high at annual racing event

DUST off those hats and suits, Plate Day is almost upon us and thousands of well-dressed ladies and gents soon will be making their way to Newcastle Racecourse for their annual dose of racing, wining and dining.
The much-loved finale to the three-day Northumberland Plate Festival will take place on Saturday and it’s set to be spectacular.
Like Ladies Day in July, the Plate is a sporting and social highlight of the summer at Gosforth Park and Newcastle race-goers no doubt have been planning their outfits for weeks.
The annual treat is always packed with entertainment and adding to the programme this June 28 will be an end-of-day ABBA Revival performance to keep the party going.
