Metro line closure for renewal works

A BUSY section of the Metro line will be closed until Saturday.

There will be no Metros between Shiremoor and St James, in both directions due to renewal works.The yellow line will run from Shiremoor towards South Shields via South Gosforth, calling at all stations en route. The green line will be unaffected by the closure. A replacement bus service will run during the works, calling at or close to all affected Metro stations.

Nexus, who operate the Metro, say the closure is part of their Asset Renewal Programme - which involves the modernisation of key items of Metro infrastructure, including tracks and overhead lines.
