Le Bris: I'll keep faith in Mayenda
The Chronicle
|September 11, 2025
SUNDERLAND head coach Regis Le Bris insists he has full faith in Eliezer Mayenda’s ability to lead the line in the Premier League having scored once in his opening three games, writes MATTY HEWITT.
The Spanish youth international impressed against West Ham United on the opening day of the season, but missed a golden opportunity in the defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor in the following fixture.
Mayenda has started all three of the Black Cats’ Premier League fixtures since promotion, having scored the all-important equaliser against Sheffield United in the Championship playoff final.
The 20-year-old scored the opening goal of the game against the Hammers - Sunderland's first in the Premier League in eight years.
