King honours mum and daughter for raising awareness of knife dangers

A MUM and her daughter who have devoted their lives to educating young people about the dangers of carrying knives have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours.
Samantha Madgin was 18 when she was stabbed to death just weeks after giving birth to son Callum in 2007. Since then, her mum Alison Madgin and sister Carly Barrett have worked tirelessly to honour her memory and founded Samantha's Legacy in her memory. In 2019 they founded Samantha's Legacy in honour of the teen and have delivered more than 2,000 knife crime awareness workshops to young people across the North East.
