Jailed for arson attack at ex-girlfriend's house

Daniel Lumsden

A JILTED man carried out a revenge arson attack at the home of his former girlfriend after she ended their week-long relationship.

Daniel Lumsden flew off the handle after finding out the victim had spent an evening with her former partner.

Newcastle Crown Court heard he ended up fighting with the other man before returning in the dead of night, piling rubbish outside the woman's back door and torching it with petrol as an accelerant.

Thankfully a neighbour who heard a fire alarm and smelled burning put out the blaze and the victim was not at home.

The court heard Lumsden had been in a relationship with the woman for just a week when she decided to end it. She said this caused him to “kick off”.
