Former Newcastle keeper Krul has sympathy

FORMER Newcastle United star Tim Krul has opened up on the difficulties of being a second choice goalkeeper amid the battle for the gloves at St James’ Park between Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale.

Ramsdale has largely had to play second choice to Pope this term but has kept goal in Newcastle’s last four matches with Pope being ruled out with a groin injury.

The decision of who will be the club's long term number one upon Pope's return will be a huge talking point but Krul has sympathy for Ramsdale's situation, having had experience himself of being a second choice goalkeeper at Newcastle, as well as Norwich and Luton.
