Football club left 'horrified' by behaviour at game

A MAN was taken to hospital after being punched in the head when intervening in a fight at South Shields FC's match against Scarborough last Tuesday.

The incident took place at the 1st Cloud Arena stadium on Shaftbury Avenue in the Bede Industrial Estate, with the injured man said to be a Scarborough fan.
Northumbria Police said the man's injuries were not been believed to be serious but that enquiries were ongoing and appealed for anyone with information to contact the force.
