SUNDERLAND head coach Regis Le Bris admits he tried his luck during the January transfer market in an attempt to bring Enzo Le Fee to the Stadium of Light.

Five-word text that brought Enzo here

The Black Cats' head coach knew all about the French playmaker, 25, from their time together at Lorient, with his chance creation stats among the best in Europe under his tutorage.

For one reason or another, it hadn't worked out for Le Fee since parting ways with Le Bris - sealing a move to Rennes in 2023 before a switch to AS Roma in the summer of 2024.

After Daniele De Rossi’s departure from the Stadio Olimpico, Le Fee was pushed to the side and found game-time hard to come by.

In the end, it was a five-word text message that helped set Sunderland on their way to promotion.
