Driver left pensioner with double leg break in crash

A DRIVER left a pensioner with a double leg fracture after he crashed into her on a busy North East high street.

Terrence Barton was behind the wheel of a Nissan Micra when he failed to see the woman as he pulled out of a junction in Wallsend, North Tyneside.
A court heard that the 57-year-old hit the victim and she fell to the ground, injuring her leg.
The emergency services were called and the woman was taken to hospital, where she spent a few days receiving treatment for a broken tibia and fibula.
