Come on Alex - it's time to remind us just how great you truly are

ALEXANDER ISAK has the stats to go with his stature. Fifty goals plundered in the last two seasons stretching over three domestic competitions.

- JOHNGIBSON

Twenty-five last season, another 25 this campaign with five matches left in which to boost his impressive figures.

Little wonder that clubs scattered across our islands and Europe cast envious eyes towards the Tyne.

I rate him highly, being a long time admirer of goalscoring centre-forward legends and have repeatedly warned against selling him at whatever price because trying to replace with a similar model is impossible.

However, I am appealing on behalf of all Geordies for Isak to make one more Herculean effort and push United over the finish line to Champions League glory.

Not just because he has all the armoury to do so and confirm the dreams of thousands but because of late Alex has fallen a tad beneath his skyscraper standards.

Since his Wembley winner that brought us the Carabao Cup after years of waiting to put on a parade and party, Isak has scored twice in five games but missed a barrel load of chances and - dare I say it of such a thoroughbred - looked a little lightweight.
