Cinema trip is a hit with families
The Chronicle
|April 25, 2025
HI Sunshine News Readers, We hope everybody had a great Easter break and enjoyed lots of chocolate! Our Family Co-ordinator, Bev, has had a busy half-term with our community events, and she’s here this week to talk about it.
-
We started with a trip to the Beacon of Light last week to attend the Sunderland Parent Carer Forum’s SEND Family Fun Day. This was our fourth year; it's always a very popular event with families and professionals coming along, and there is a great selection of activities for children and young people with a wide array of information stalls for parent carers too. On our stall, we get the chance to meet new people, talk through what we do and how we can help, and network with local charities and businesses expanding our contacts and knowledge to signpost and support our families. Lots of application packs were given out so we'll see what new equipment may be applied for.
Later in the week we had our own Sunshine Families event where we took 14 of our families to the cinema to watch A Minecraft Movie, this was absolutely the best part of the Easter holidays... along with the chocolate!
