TRIBUTES have been paid to a dad from Ashington who was tragically killed in a crash on the A19.

Dax Jones died in the collision on the A19 southbound at the Ingleby Arncliffe junction near Teesside on June 15, 2022.

Eleanor Wilson was found not guilty of causing the 51-year-old's death by dangerous driving at Teesside Crown Court. The 23-year-old had pleaded guilty to an alternative count of causing death by careless driving.

The court heard Mr Jones, was riding his Yamaha MT motorcycle on the A19 at the time of the crash and Wilson was driving a light blue Ford Ka.

Wilson was waiting on the slip road junction out of Ingleby Arncliffe, just before 8am that Wednesday morning, to drive across the A19 southbound and onto the northbound route.

Witnesses saw Wilson pull out from the junction to cross the southbound carriageway, intending to join the northbound carriageway. It was then that Mr Jones crashed into the side of her car and "flew through the air about 40ft above the car".

His family has now released a tribute following the sentencing of Wilson, of The Green in Kirklevington, near Yarm.

They said: "The loss of Dax has deeply impacted our family. He leaves an unfillable void not only for us, but for his friends, colleagues, and fellow bikers far and wide.
