£69m fee for Woltemade was 'surreal'

THE £69million transfer fee Newcastle United paid Stuttgart to sign Nick Woltemade was 'completely surreal'.

That is the verdict of former Werder Bremen head coach and sporting director Thomas Schaaf, who worked with Woltemade as a youngster at the German club.
Woltemade left Bremen on a free transfer in the summer of 2024 and signed for Stuttgart, where he scored 17 goals in all competitions last season.
