National League is one win away

WHAT an exciting week for Chester FC fans in anticipation of this Sunday's promotion final.

Unexpected even, given the Blues have had two tough matches to reach what is a hugely-anticipated National League North play-off showdown.

Supporters will be feeling like kids at Christmas and who can blame them.

The atmosphere inside the Deva Stadium for the eliminator clash against Buxton was incredible.

It must have been so therapeutic for manager Calum McIntyre to banish thoughts of two years ago and that play-off semi-final defeat at home to Brackley.

It makes you wonder whether finishing second or third is really worth it when you look at what can happen.

The teams who win the eliminators are, by default, on the crest of a wave and have picked up momentum going into the semi-finals.
