PE investments plunge 26% as global worries bite

According to a report by Anarock, private equity investments in Indian real estate experienced a decline of 26% to USD 2.65 billion in the April-December period of the fiscal year 2023-24 compared to USD 3.6 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The reduction was attributed to cautious behaviour among foreign and domestic investors amidst global uncertainties.
Out of the total private equity inflow, 84% comprised equity investments, while the remaining portion was in debt, as indicated by Anarock Capital's report FLUX. Shobhit Agarwal, MD & CEO of Anarock Capital, highlighted that foreign investors' share surged to 86%, contrasting with the 79% reported in the previous year. Conversely, domestic investments dwindled to a mere 14% of the total capital inflow during this period.
