DAC approved key proposals including new anti-tank mines, air defense radar, torpedoes, maritime reconnaissance aircraft, flight refuelers, and radios, bolstering Indian Navy and Coast Guard capabilities.

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired. by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has given the green light to various capital acquisition proposals totalling Rs 84,560 crore. These approvals aim to bolster the capabilities of the Armed Forces and the Indian Coast Guard, with a particular emphasis on enhancing self-reliance through procurement from Indian vendors.
Key proposals approved by the DAC include the acquisition of new-generation anti-tank mines, air defence tactical control radar, heavy-weight torpedoes, medium-range maritime reconnaissance and multi-mission maritime aircraft, flight refueller aircraft, and software-defined radios. Notably, the procurement of medium-range maritime reconnaissance and multi-mission maritime aircraft is set to strengthen the surveillance and interdiction capabilities of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.
Additionally, the DAC has given the go-ahead for the acquisition of air defence tactical control radar to bolster air defence systems, particularly in detecting slow, small, and low-flying targets. Moreover, approval has been granted for the procurement of canister launched anti-armour loiter munition system to enhance operational efficiency and domination in tactical battle areas.
