EAM JAISHANKAR HAILS SANTINIKETAN'S UNESCO HERITAGE STATUS AS TRIBUTE TO TAGORE

India's Santiniketan, the abode of Rabindranath Tagore, has been granted UNESCO's World Heritage status

On Sunday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar express happiness over UNESCO’s World Heritage status on Santiniketan, Rabindranath Tagore’s abode in the Burbhum district of West Bengal. Also, India’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO Vishal V Sharma says India rejoices Santiniketan’s inclusion on the World Heritage List. He notes Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the chancellor of Santiniketan; it’s his birthday, calling Santiniketan’s inscription a “welcome gift.” Sharma’s remarks come after Santiniketan was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list during the 45th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, as informed by the UN agency through a post on the social media platform ‘X’. Responding to the post by Vishal V Sharma, India’s ambassador and permanent representative to UNESCO, on X, Jaishankar writes, “Congratulations. A fitting tribute to our first Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and all those who have kept his message alive.”
