CSR Spending Shows Regional Disparity: CRISIL

A decade after government regulations mandated corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending and reporting, there is an urgent need for more inclusive and impactful actions.

An analysis of 1,871 eligible listed companies, which spent Rs 14,714 crore on over 3,200 projects in fiscal 2023, underscores this necessity.

The Crisil CSR Yearbook 2024 highlights the concentration of CSR efforts in a few states while others, often in greater need, receive minimal attention. Companies were categorized based on their headquarters, CSR spending, and project locations, with a particular focus on the top 100 companies by CSR spending in aspirational districts, as identified by Niti Aayog.
