Australia has significantly raised the cost of student visa fees for international students, more than doubling the fee from AUD 710 to AUD 1,600. This increase will affect numerous Indian students intending to study in Australia. The decision has sparked criticism from student representatives, who argue that the higher fees may push prospective students towards Australia’s competitors, as reported by ABC News on Monday.

The increased student visa fees for Australia are applicable from July 1. The federal government said the additional revenue will help fund initiatives in education, including cuts to graduate debt, financial support for apprentices, and the ongoing implementation of its migration strategy, the report said.
