56TH NPG EVALUATES RS 52,000 CR INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT

Four road and two railway projects seek to enhance connectivity and socio-economic development, aided by the NMP portal's geospatial data for planning

In a significant stride toward bolstering India's infrastructure, six major projects, encompassing roads and railways with a collective investment of Rs 52,000 crore, have been recommended for approval under the prestigious PM Gati Shakti initiative. This recent development was announced following the 56th Network Planning Group (NPG) meeting convened on September 27, marking yet another milestone in India's ambitious infrastructure development journey.

Since the inception of the PM Gati Shakti initiative, a grand total of 112 projects with an estimated value of Rs 11.53 lakh crore have been meticulously assessed by the NPG. These projects hold the key to realizing the initiative's core objectives, which include bolstering connectivity, reducing logistics costs, and fostering comprehensive development in and around project areas.

The six projects under scrutiny in the latest NPG meeting comprised four projects falling under the purview of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and two projects administered by the Ministry of Railways. The strategic evaluation of these projects is expected to play a pivotal role in augmenting India's transportation infrastructure, thereby propelling economic growth and development.
