Couple nabbed for extortion

A man and his wife, who claimed to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA), have been arrested for allegedly extorting P2.6 million from a Filipino businessman, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Monday, July 7.

The NBI said couple Christopher Capitulo and Maria Elena were nabbed during an entrapment operation conducted by the bureau's Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD) at their residence in Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City, on July 2.
