Cops pose as farmers to bust loan scam

Police personnel, posing as farmers, nabbed several individuals across Adilabad district for allegedly duping real farmers by acting as intermediaries and collecting between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 from each, with false promises of enhancing their crop loans.
Several documents were seized from the accused during a special drive conducted on Thursday. So far, 34 individuals have been booked in connection with the fraud. Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan said the accused had adopted a new method to cheat farmers by collecting money under the pretext of increasing their loan amounts. Sixteen special police teams were formed and detained the suspects while they were collecting
