Town backs new three council model for the county going forward

TAMWORTH Borough Council has agreed on a final proposal on the future of local government in Staffordshire.

The government tasked all councils to submit final proposals before the end of the month.

An overwhelming majority of councillors agreed that creating three unitary authorities, one for the north, one for the southwest and one for the southeast, would protect local identity and ensure financial stability. The plans were shaped by feedback from more than 16,500 residents across southern and mid-Staffordshire.
