Data suggests county's richest and poorest are living just minutes apart

Surrey Advertiser

SURREY is often considered to be one of the UK’s wealthiest counties, with towns full of multimillion-pound homes and high-paying jobs on offer both in the county and in nearby London.

- By JOSEPH BICKLE

Despite this, recently released data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) suggests that while this is true, there are many areas of Surrey which do not follow that stereotype.

The ONS data measures the mean household disposable net income both before after housing costs on an equivalised basis for local areas across England and Wales (Middle layer Super Output Areas, aka MSOAs) in the financial year ending in March 2023.
