Vets urge owners to learn pet first aid for the summer

First aid and knowing what to do in an emergency may be the difference between life and death, and it's no different when it comes to our pets.
It's just as important for pet owners to know what to do in the worst case, should an emergency or injury occur.
From CPR, broken bones to seizures, knowing what to do can make a huge difference to our pet’s health, wellbeing and recovery from injury.
In 2024, our PDSA vet teams treated just over 8,100 seizure pets across our Pet Hospitals. Average emergency treatment costs for the charity for seizures can be around £362. Our teams also saw 2,700 fracture cases; that’s over 10 cases per working day on average.
