It is 100 years since Major Robert Challis Hudson was killed in a tragic accident in the bell tower of Sunderland Minster, formerly St Michael's, Bishopwearmouth.
-
Robert was a member of the Hudson family who owned an ironmonger's shop at 314 High Street West in Sunderland and lived at 1 Church Lane.
He was church warden, bell ringer and Sunday school teacher at St Michael's.
He worked in the ironmongers and was in the army during the First World War.
