Over a quarter of GP appointments are now 'remote'

More than a quarter of GP appointments in the North East are new taking place over the phone or online.

NHS England data shows 28% of GP appointments in the NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board area in June were carried out remotely - 478,814 out of 1,689,573.

That was up from 25% (399,284) a year earlier, but still down from the 45% (562,084) remote consultations in June 2020, during the pandemic.

Nationally, 33% of GP appointments took place on the phone or online that month-the highest since the pandemic.
