But she suddenly starts to kick their butts after she is possessed by a friendly sprite, Billy Blind, and gains superhuman strength. So starts the first episode of Disney+ series Renegade Nell, now showing as a box set on ITVX.

After an altercation with a high born local magistrate, in which his son kills him to inherit his wealth, Nell becomes the most feared person in the country after being framed for his murder.

With the help of the magical sprite, Nell (Louisa Harland) realises that her destiny is bigger than she ever imagined, leading to adventures involving fighting against a magical plot targeting the Queen of England.

In addition to Louisa Harland the cast includes Adrian Lester as Robert Hennessey, Earl of Poynton, Nick Mohammed as Billy Blind, Bo Bragason as Roxy Trotter, Nell's younger sister, Enyi Okoronkwo as Rasselas, a young stable boy who becomes Nell's accomplice, Craig Parkinson as Sam Trotter, Nell's father and Florence Keen as George Trotter, Nell's youngest sister.
