More than 200 deadly pesticides used in SA

There are nearly 200 highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs) still being used on South African farms, including Terbufos, which killed six Soweto children last year.

Activist groups Unpoison and the African Centre for Biodiversity report 192 HHPs registered in the country. Although many are banned in Europe and other parts of the world, only 16 face partial restrictions.
