These clever apps can help you to achieve your New Year goals

- JUSTIN CONNOLLY

I AM reliably informed that it's round about now when people start giving up their New Year's resolutions.

It does not have to be that way, though there are some fabulous apps out there to help you to build better habits and learn new skills.

Here are just a few to try, whether you want to learn something new, get healthy, or find new levels of fitness...

BUILD BETTER HABITS

(Not Boring) Habits

They say: Most habit trackers are little more than a daily to-do list. (Not Boring) Habits takes a different approach. It combines the best behavioural science with the fun of gaming to help you build positive habits or break bad ones.

Once your new habit becomes automatic, you no longer need a tracker (and we're cool with that).

We say: We've mentioned some of Not Boring's other apps here before - it makes a good pro camera, a weather app, and a calculator among other fine utilities. They all have highly individual design that won't be to everyone's taste... but if you like it, then it will work wonders for you.

Habits helps by gamifying the building of new rituals which, of course, helps them stick. There's science behind it, but it's all about the wonderfully realised graphics.

Cost: £14.99/year or £49.99/year as part of the Not Boring Bundle with access to all apps
