More snoozing and Arsenal will be losing the race for a striker

FOR a long time now - in fact, probably since specific periods of business were set - the summer transfer window has become a competition in itself.
It has become an industry that has sprung a whole host of spin-off businesses.
And when the window closes, there will be myriad debates about who has had a good transfer window and who has had a bad transfer window.
The truth, of course, is that no one will know until the end of the season.
Was anybody saying what a great summer window Liverpool had in 2024 when their only incoming player was Federico Chiesa, who cost a measly £10million?
Er, no. And Liverpool ran away with the Premier League.
After all, not doing anything is better than buying duds.
Manchester United have been very active in quite a few recent windows and look how that has turned out.
Last summer, United signed Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee ... and lost EIGHTEEN Premier League matches.
It is no exact science.
But one of the more reasonable assumptions about a transfer window is that it is good to do business early.
It does no harm, put it that way.
Which is why Liverpool and Manchester City supporters seem fairly content with their clubs' business.
City, of course, began their serious recruitment drive in January and have continued apace in the summer.
