GEN Z love a bit of a ding-dong - as more are taking up bellringing.

Teenagers and twentysomethings are spending their evenings learning the ropes in church towers.

One, Brooks Hayes, 23, caught the campanology bug last year and now rings several times a week.

He says: "I am one of many young people of university age who have begun taking up ringing. Most towers I regularly attend have at least one learner who is below the age of 30.

"Many people of my generation are looking for a social environment. With the low commitment and only real cost being travel, ringing is very attractive.
