HEART HORROR ON GOLF COURSE TEES OFF DAD'S MARATHON FUNDRAISING

Dave Whitehouse was playing The Belfry's famous course in Sutton Coldfield in July 2018 when he started to feel unwell.

He was on the par five 15th tee of the Ryder Cup venue when his leg started shaking.

He stepped back but managed to complete his round and headed to the car park to put his clubs in the car before heading for a drink with his pals. But he never made it.

Dave, who was 33 at the time, collapsed in the car park. He has suffered a cardiac arrest and his chances of survival were said to be less than 1%.

But in an incredible moment of good fortune, two off-duty nurses on a break from a conference at the venue rushed to his aid.

Dave, who is now 40, said: "I have little recollection of that day. It comes from what people have told me. I was feeling rough and had a bit of an episode on the 15th tee. My leg was shaking. But I managed to carry on.

"After finishing I told my friend, 'I am going to put my clubs in the car and I'll meet you in the bar.'

"I don't remember anything after that. I collapsed in the car park and two off-duty nurses just happened to be having a break in the car park and started CPR.
