You're odious &vile

ANAS Sarwar has slammed a Reform mayoral candidate as "odious and vile" for using his Pakistani heritage to question his loyalty to Scotland and the UK.

The Scottish Labour leader is among a number of Scots politicians from minority ethnic backgrounds - including ex-First Minister Humza Yousaf and Equalities Minister Kaukab Stewart - to be targeted by Chris Parry.

Parry, a retired naval rear admiral, has been selected by Nigel Farage's party to contest the Hampshire and the Solent mayoral election.

In a slew of posts on X over the last year, he has repeatedly attacked Sarwar and others with comments that have been branded "racist" and "sickening".

Parry shared a clip in May of Sarwar speaking at a 2022 event celebrating the 75th anniversary of Pakistan's independence, writing: "So many people in @ UKLabour don't owe their primary loyalty to Britain."
