Trial block on hi-tech simulation of killer's stab attack

Court said use risked usurping the jury

A BEAUTICIAN who stabbed her boyfriend to death has successfully challenged an attempt to use a computer simulation of the attack to help convict her of murder.

Dionne Christie stabbed Jevin Haig, 21, in the chest with his 12in hunting knife as they struggled in the bedroom of her flat in Falkirk.

The mother of two stood trial on a murder charge but was convicted of the lesser offence of culpable homicide and jailed for eight-and-a-half years in May.

It has now been revealed that before her trial prosecutors applied to use evidence from an expert who digitally recreated the incident using biomechanics.
