Phillips says he owes his success to his ma Cora

- BY FRASER WILSON

MY SUPERHERO

IN Killian Phillips' own words, it has been quite a journey.

From kicking about public parks for his boys club in the Kilbarrack suburb of Dublin to running out for his national team at Aviva Stadium slap bang in the middle of the city.

The route in between jumped from Drogheda to Crystal Palace, Shrewsbury, Aberdeen and now Paisley.

And all the time the midfielder had his mum Cora driving him on to achieve a lifetime's ambition to play for his country.

So when Phillips climbed off the bench in last month's 1-1 friendly draw with Senegal it was the proudest moment of his life.

And on the final whistle he made a beeline for the person who made it all possible - the woman he calls a superhero.

A video of the 23-year-old and his mum sharing an emotionally-charged embrace went viral on social media.

And Phillips said: "It was very emotional. Mum gave up so much of her life and dreams to help me pursue mine.
