Hoops fans have left guard down

WHEN Celtic were set to play Rangers at Ibrox the week after clinching the league title at Tannadice last month, the usual mischievous debate began about the Ibrox players forming a guard of honour for their rivals before the derby started.

Brendan Rodgers was asked for his take on the subject and said the ceremony was a long-standing tradition within the game.

But Celtic's manager added it was obviously something that was problematic for a home team who “come up short quite a lot”.

As soundbites go, it was right up there as a verbal volley to please the Celtic supporters no end.
