Heat is on as Martin gears up for Greeks

RUSSELL MARTIN reckons red-hot temperatures at St George's Park were ideal to get Rangers ready for when Panathinaikos crank up the heat in Greece.

The Ibrox stars trained through a heatwave at the elite home of the England teams before rounding off the training camp with a closed-door friendly against Barnsley.

The 1-1 draw leaves Martin still searching for his first win as Rangers boss - but he was able to hand starts to recruits Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga, Joe Rothwell and Thelo Aasgaard.

Lyall Cameron was given his first run out in the second half as Danilo put Gers ahead before Max Watters levelled in the 30 degree heat.
