Thelo makes the Well storm and difference as Gers weather secure important victory

THEY got a halftime message from big DJ - and Rangers finally turned up to the party to see off Motherwell.

The inform Steelmen were enjoying themselves at Ibrox and legendary ex-Gers striker Derek Johnstone wasn't happy at the break.

While doing the fans' lotto draw, he was asked about the team's display and accused Danny Rohl's side of being lazy.

Johnstone said: "At this club, you have to give everything. I don't see that happening today."

Whether Gers' players heard the rallying cry or not, they improved after the interval and grabbed a crucial winner through Thelo Aasgaard.

It moved Rohl's men above Well in the Premiership table - but they didn't get it all their own way at Ibrox.

Jack Butland made several good saves to deny the visitors before Aasgaard struck on 67 minutes.

Both sides had chances towards the end. But Rangers were wasteful in front of goal as they looked for a clincher, with Mikey Moore, Bojan Miovski and Lyall Cameron all guilty.

As much as Motherwell threatened, they lacked composure in the final third and couldn't find an equaliser.

They felt they should have had a penalty in the closing stages after Manny Fernandez' challenge on Lukas Fadinger but VAR disagreed.

Here are MailSport's five talking points from the match.

AASGAARD ANSWERS
