DON LOOK BACK IN ANGER
Sunday Mail
|July 06, 2025
CELTIC star Arne Engels reckons taking the anger from last term's biggest disappointments can provide added fuel to power their fresh Treble charge.
The Belgian star enjoyed a positive first term in Glasgow after his £11million move from Augsburg with winners' medals collected from both the title triumph and the Premier Sports Cup.
Unfortunately for Engels, the campaign ended on a sour note with the loss to Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Final denying his team a domestic clean sweep.
It was a painful day for Brendan Rodgers’ side and the midfielder admits the mood was low in the camp in the immediate aftermath.
Engels cited a similar feeling when the Champions League campaign was ended in agonising fashion by Bayern Munich but he insists there can be gain from pain by absorbing the setbacks and using them to drive the next chapter.
The 21-year-old confessed it was tough to get over the Hampden loss to the Reds as he said: "Yeah, 100 percent because we were all focused on getting that Treble and that was a big disappointment.
"When I went into the dressing room afterwards the mood wasn't there and that's normal.
"You have to feel like that after a big disappointment but we also felt that way after the Bayern Munich match and in the games after that we were really good.
