Vape fires triple in five years

THE NUMBER of fires sparked by vapes has more than tripled in the past five years, figures show.
The rise in vaping as an alternative to smoking now means about 11% adults use e-cigarettes. And a quarter of 11 to 15-year-olds say they have tried them with 9% using them frequently, according to NHS figures.
Call-out logs of fire services, obtained through Freedom of Information requests, show there were 1,056 fires sparked by vapes last year, a rise of 348% since 2020.
